Cleaned up my old posts, reactivated my account, and got everything set up over at my personal site. I’ve been in a process of radically reducing my use of corporate social media for a while now. For years, I was back and forth, back and forth. A few months ago, I deleted all of my Twitter accounts entirely, and started the process of moving away from Meta platforms. I still have my personal IG account, as I love cat videos & have a couple of friends who are actively posting political content that is important to me. But, soon, that will go away, too.
I’m also ending the use of social media at our business.. As a business devoted to promoting health, I really don’t see how encouraging people to spend time on toxic corporate social media makes any sense. Some would say that we should stick around to add positive content to the space, but that doesn’t hold much water for me.
Anyway, I’m pleased with my setup. Long form content on my personal site, little updates & photos via Micro.blog which are then piped to a page on my website via syndication. A perfect little ecosystem for my purposes, under my control & not feeding the egos & advertising revenues of billionaires set on the destruction of everything I hold dear.
Long form content will start flowing soon, I’ve got a couple of projects I’m trying to get moving and I’ve decided that forcing myself to write for an audience is one way to unblock the dam. We’ll see how it goes, as always.
